News and Notes: Nov 10th
After a great night from the Jazz, let’s take a look at what’s going on in the basketball world in general:
NCAA
- Joe Lunardi from ESPN has his first guess at this year’s NCAA bracket, it’d be interesting to see how accurate this may turn out to be (Spoiler: Lunardi concurs with the ESPN line that Duke is#1 overall team)
- Villanova F JayVaughn Pinkston under school investigation for potential involvement in an altercation that led to an assault report. Pinkston, a freshman, was named a McDonald’s All American and earned New York’s Player of the Year as a senior
- Jakarr Sampson, Maurice Harkless and D’Angelo Harrison have signed letters of intent to St. Johns. All three were ranked in ESPN’s top 100 as seniors
- Tonight’s games include Illnois-Chicago at (4) Pitt, Toledo at (16) Illnois and Louisana Tech at (25) Texas
NBA Development League
- Timberwolves to host Trey Johnson, Sundiata Gaines, Curtis Jerrells and Aaron Miles to workout with the team prior to tonight’s match up against the Kings
- Rockets forward Patrick Patterson assigned to defending D-League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers
- The Vipers defeated Los Halcones in their first preseason game
NBA
- The Pacers went 20 for 21 in the 3rd quarter last night, on their way to a 144-113 victory over a legitimately shocked Nuggets team
- Shaq returned to practice today, may be back for Friday’s game in Miami
- The Lakers will be revealing a statue to guard Jerry West during All-Star Weekend
- Don’t look now, but the Cavs are atop the Central division
